Description
Polysorbate 20 is a stable and non-toxic surfactant which is used an emulsifier in a many household, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.
It is particularly useful for dispersing essential or fragrance oils into water bases for products such as room fresheners or spritzers.
Polysorbate-20 is made from polyethoxylated sorbitan (chemical compounds derived from the dehydration of sugar alcohol) and oleic acid, a fatty acid found in animal and vegetable fats.
It can be used where you need water and oil to combine, room sprays for example. It can also be used in bath oils, cream preparations and shower gels or shampoos.
Polysorbate-20 is soothing to the skin. As a guide, 10g Polysorbate-20 will solubise up to 3g of essential or fragrance oil.
Make your own Room Spray...
Add 1 part Polysorbate-20 to 9 parts water (10% polysorbate to 90% water) and add up to 3% essential or fragrance oil to make a simple room spray.
